2/6/2010 10p.m Stackabones Started in Austin Texas in 1982, Stackabones has been playing together in various incarnations for nearly three decades. The band plays mostly original music in the vein of Jam Roots Americana, think bluegrassy country-rock meets groove-oriented jam band! Over the years, Stackabones has shared the stage with such greats as Hot Tuna, John Prine, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Canned Heat among others; and has played great venues such as The Wetlands, CBGB's, Continental Club, Catalyst, and High Sierra music festival. Stackabones
has spent the last year diligently producing a new full-length CD, and
will be putting the finishing touches on it the first week in February.
The band is happy to return to the Connecticut Yankee on February 6th
to celebrate completion of this great project. Stackabones features
original members Butch Zito, & Jimmie Brighton, along with Scotty
Cooper (China Cats), legendary SF bass player Chip Clofine & special
guests! |

2/19 'Antwerps
Placebo' Antwerp's Placebo is a rare combination of Bay Area Grateful Dead band veterans who emphasis is improvisation leveraging off the many years of music played by the Grateful Dead. It is not so much the notes played, but what is done with those notes that helps differentiate this band from other GD type bands. It is a real respect for the genuine approach of interacting with each other as a small group improv ensemble that aids the band's innate ability to capture the magic in the moment in an effort to describe the indescribable. “Placebo” is Latin for “I shall please.” Lineup: --------------- Lance Case: guitar, vocals (Open Space Project, Foolish Hearts) Duane Day: bass, vocals (Jerry's Kids) James Miller: keys, vocals (Workingman's Ed, Dead Guise, Live Dead) Ben Schroeter: drums (Stan Murdock, Carlosity, Jerry's Kids) Phil_Coulson: guitar, vocals (Cryptical, Jerry's Kids, Foolish Hearts) Members of this band individually have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such notable musicians as Phil Lesh, Vince Welnick, Merl Saunders, John Cippolina, Steve Kimock, Henry Kaiser, and more. |

Fri. 2/26 The Electric Z-Trane 'Reverend Jimmy and the Heavenly Knockers' To understand Jeff Zittrain you have to understand his roots. He grew up in Pittsburgh, home of the rough and tumble Steelers, listening to the sounds of Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin and The Doors. Then along came the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, The Band...and Zittrain went on the road. Along the way he met T.S. Eliot, Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady. He jammed with the Grateful Dead in the Rockies, left his body and went jumping for joy with “The Mighty Quinn”, and hit the ground running in the promised land; San Francisco. There Zittrain began shaping his ragged, psychedelic and soulful rock and roll sound. Blending his gritty roots with poetic lyricism and improvisational inspiration he performed with the alt-country rockers Absent Iris, the jamband Shirking Violet, the roots rockers Personal Demons and the genre-bending power trio Famous Last Words (FLW). As the primary songwriter in FLW he released two critically acclaimed albums, garnering an All Music Guide 4 Stars and a CD Baby Editors Pick as well as features and reviews in Relix Magazine, Hittin' The Note, An Honest Tune, HearMusic, West Coast Performer Magazine and KyndMusic, a song on NBC TV and a streaming slot on The Rex Foundation website.
